Leather Bracelet Workshop
Traditional Techniques in a Contemporary Interpretation
Ethnographic motifs and traditional techniques continue to inspire fashion designers around the world.
In our current workshop, the traditional szironyozás lacing technique is reinterpreted in a contemporary context with the guidance of fashion designer and applied artist Gabo Szerencsés.
Summer is the season of light, expressive accessories — especially bracelets. As part of the Etnoshop program series, participants will create a unique leather bracelet decorated with exciting, openwork patterns.
Gabo chose the szironyozás technique for his diploma project, reimagining it through a fresh and innovative design approach. During the workshop, participants will become familiar with this special lacing method as well as the fundamentals of leather craftsmanship, using the designer’s own custom-made tools.
At first glance, the creation of decorative motifs may seem complex, but the technique is taught step by step and is easy to learn. The process involves the interlacing of leather strands, resulting in a refined yet expressive surface.
The outcome is a one-of-a-kind, handcrafted leather accessory that is sure to earn appreciation from both its maker and those around them.
The workshop is recommended from the age of 12, and is open to all genders.
