Gabo Szerencses – bags and garments shaped by a slow fashion approach
I developed my professional design expertise with the guidance of the masters of the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest, as well as teachers in Barcelona. My work primarily focuses on women’s collections, while I also welcome selected bespoke commissions.
I have been building the Gabo Szerencses brand since 2008. The brand is defined by small-scale slow fashion collections of high-quality leather bags and garments. I believe in conscious consumption, timeless design, and in the value of thoughtfully designed objects that become meaningful parts of everyday life. Each collection is shaped by personal experience, experimentation, and continuous refinement.
Bags – form, function, character
When designing Gabo Szerencses bags, my goal is to create pieces that are elegant, high-quality, and free from clichés. I am drawn to visually engaging forms, while functionality is always essential — design must never come at the expense of usability. I personally use and test every bag, then refine and develop each design based on real-life experience, ensuring long-term comfort and practicality.
I place great emphasis on premium leathers and distinctive surface qualities. I work with a Zero Waste mindset, striving to give purpose to every piece of leather throughout the design process. All bags are produced in Hungary, in small series, with great care and attention to detail.
My architecturally inspired, geometric designs are well known — such as the Y Collection and the Trapeze Collection, defined by their clean, confident lines. My newest pieces consciously move in a different direction: created from soft, fluid leathers, they feature gentle, feminine curves and are inspired by Asian aesthetics.
A more playful and light-hearted side of my work is represented by the Cat Collection, which will soon be expanded with dog-inspired designs as well.
Garments – femininity, versatility, freedom
Alongside bags, I also design women’s garments, guided by the same values: quality, longevity, and wearability. I love carefully selected materials and refined tailoring, and it is especially important to me that each piece enhances confidence and feels truly good to wear.
I believe that femininity cannot be confined to a single style — it is defined by constant change, experimentation, and authenticity. Accordingly, my collections include both capsule pieces and timeless basics, with made-to-measure adjustments available upon request.
